Join certified yoga teacher, Tanya Sowards, in this teacher training to help you understand the practical teachings behind the Yoga Sutras as well as how incorporate these teachings in your classrooms for a variety of experience levels.
Each segment will include both lecture and yoga practices based on the ~2000 year old writings attributed to Patanjali. In the Oral Tradition of the past, teachers would expound upon the terse Sutras with definitive teachings and practices only given in the physical presence of their students. This training offers you the chance to learn and experience the ancient teachings and profound wisdom that that Sutras offer.
What are the Sutras? "Sutra" means to thread or to suture: String that holds the pearls of yoga wisdom together. It is a scripture, a comprehensive system of how to become enlightened.
You will learn:
• History of Patanjali (attributed author of the Sutras) and his times
• Layman's terms for key Sutras that most students can relate to
• Sutras to help enhance our Sadhana (personal practice)
• Practices to help get the mind quiet and find the real you
• The Sutra's approach to asana, pranayama and meditation
• What the obstacles and virtues are in the path towards yoga
• Exercises to help you find your teaching voice while maintaining integrity with these teachings
